இலங்கையில் இடம்பெற்ற மனித குலத்திற்கு எதிரான குற்றங்கள் போர்க்குற்றங்கள் தொடர்பான பொறுப்புக்கூறல் விவகாரத்தை சர்வதேச குற்றவியில் நீதிமன்றத்திற்குப் பாரப்படுத்த நடவடிக்கை எடுக்க வலியுறுத்தி அரசியல் கட்சிகளும் சிவில் அமைப்புக்களும் கூட்டாக மகஜர் கையளித்துள்ளனர்.
இன்று யாழ்ப்பாணம் சென்றுள்ள ஐநா மனித உரிமைகள் பேரவை ஆணையாளரிடம் தமிழ் மக்கள் மீனதான இனப்படுகொலைக்கு சர்வதேச விசாரணை கோரும் கடிதம் ஒன்று அரசியல் கட்சிகள் மற்றும் சிவில் அமைப்புக்கள் கூட்டாக கையொப்பமிட்ட ஐக்கிய நாடுகள் மனித உரிமைகள் ஆணையாளரிடம் நேரில் கையளிக்கப்பட்டது.
இன்று பி.ப 3.00 மணியளவில் யாழ் கோவில் வீதியில் சிவில் சமூகப் பிரதிநிதிகளுடன் நடைபெற்ற சந்திப்பின்போது குறித்த இவ் அறிக்கையில் கையொப்பமிட்டுள்ள சிவில் சமூகத் தரப்பினரால் ஆணையாளரிடம் நேரில் கையளிக்கப்பட்டது.
இந்த அறிக்கையில் கீழ்வரும் தரப்புக்கள் கையொப்பமிட்டுள்ளன.

Need for a sincere and genuine approach to ensure accountability in Sri Lanka
Your Excellency’s visit to the island comes in the backdrop of 16 years of no significant progress on the question of accountability for crimes committed during the four-decade long war.
We are concerned that Your Excellency’s visit will be used and is being used by the Government of Sri Lanka as an exercise in boosting their legitimacy and to weaken the resolve of your office and that of the UN Human Rights Council to take concrete steps towards ensuring accountability in Sri Lanka
We would also like to bring to your notice that the new Government has done precious little to indicate that they will be different to their predecessors. The recent Gazette notification which proposed to convert into state land more than 6000 acres in the Northern Province, the refusal on the part of the GOSL to release private lands on which a Buddhist temple has been built in Thayiddy with support from the Sri Lankan Armed Forces and the GoSL’s backtracking on repealing the Prevention of Terrorism Act are just a few examples of why there has been no real change in Governmental policies towards Tamils and other numerically smaller communities.
We attach herewith a letter that we wrote in 2021 to the Head of Missions of the 47 states represented in the UN Human Rights Council outlining the steps to be taken to ensure accountability for the crime of Genocide, War Crimes and Crimes Against Humanity. The letter has been signed by all Tamil political party leaders and by a cross section of the Tamil civil society and to date remains the document that brought together divergent factions and groups within the Tamil polity. We wish to reiterate its contents and ask for your office to give heed to its recommendations.
